Welcome to Moonlight Early Learning Playschool
-
Moonlight is a small, private early learning program designed for families seeking more than traditional childcare. Children receive individualized attention in a relationship-based environment that supports early literacy, math, language, creativity, physical development, social-emotional growth, and problem-solving.
The program is Reggio-inspired and uses an emergent approach to curriculum. Children’s interests, questions, and ideas help shape classroom experiences, while the environment and materials are intentionally planned to support meaningful learning.
-
A Reggio-inspired approach views children as capable, curious learners. Their questions, interests, and theories help guide classroom experiences. The environment, relationships, materials, and documentation of children’s thinking are all considered important parts of the curriculum.
-
Both. Young children learn best through play, movement, conversation, exploration, and hands-on experiences. Academic skills are introduced naturally through meaningful activities such as storytelling, songs, letter and sound exploration, counting, sorting, building, measuring, art, dramatic play, and small-group work.

Early literacy is supported through books, storytelling, songs, rhymes, conversations, name recognition, mark-making, letter and sound exploration, and meaningful opportunities to write and communicate.
-
Children develop early math skills through counting, sorting, comparing, patterning, measuring, building, puzzles, spatial reasoning, and problem-solving with real materials.
-
Children’s interests are observed through their play, questions, conversations, and repeated ideas. These observations may lead to new books, materials, projects, experiments, dramatic play experiences, or changes to the learning environment.
-
Children’s growth is observed through everyday play, conversations, routines, projects, and learning experiences. Documentation and developmental information are used to plan future experiences and communicate with families.
